Andy lived in Charleston, S.C. for most of his life where he owned his own logistics company. After he sold his business, he bought a small cabin on a mountain lake at the tip of South Carolina. In 1998 he thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, and even though he hung up his backpack he still enjoys foraging for wild edibles, kayak fishing and cooking with his wife.
